Greetings 2822 workers!
Thank you to everyone who came to our lunchtime townhalls last week. Your enthusiasm and questions were appreciated!
If you were not able to attend, here are theĀ slidesĀ from our presentation!
The main message from our presentation is this: the County offered other AFSCME unions a 4% wage increase for the next three years. 4% does not make up for the wages we lost to inflation over the course of the last contract, it wont address the upcoming project inflation under Trump, and for people on the healthcare family plan this increase will be eaten up entirely by the increases to healthcare costs.
We want to fight for more. We are tired of being disrespected and having to work multiple jobs to make ends meet.
But if we want more, if we want $30 an hour and new wage ranges then we need to fight for it up to and including going on strike.
Our next round of bargaining is December 17th. That means we have a little over 3 weeks to push the County to give us more.
The most important thing you can do now is attend our action next Tuesday December 3rd!!!!
